2080

The single 2080 from Yeasayer was released with their album All Hour Cymbals last year. The song slowly builds from an airy guitar loop and whimsical ambience, eventually blending with effect laden vocals. The latter part of the song is a mix of pianos, percussion and childrens voices which grow on you with each listen. This is the sort of song that you can play over and over without getting sick of it.

The other track on the single, Sunrise, twists and morphs in a similar way to a lot of Yeasayers songs. It begins with an a cappella vocal alongside handclaps, a sexy bassline and tense piano, and slowly shifts into a mesmerising mix of soft synth and atmosphere.

Early this year Yeasayer toured with the increasingly popular MGMT and are continuing to tour Europe and eventually will come down under: October 4 they are playing in Melbourne at the Corner Hotel.
